Arriving in Bahia Drake

After 2 nights in Turrialba, we hit the road early for a loooong drive to Bahia Drake, on the lower West side of Costa Rica.

Our 8-ish hour drive took us to elevations of over 3300 meters above sea level - as you can see by the clouds we drove through on the mountain roads!

The dining area at Cabinas El Mirador, where we spent three nights. The great thing about this place (apart from the amazing view) was that all meals were included in the price. The Bay is so sparsely built up, there are no grocery stores or restaurants, apart from those in the few hotels that sprinkled the beach. Everyone eats meals together, which was fantastic as it gave us a chance to meet other people staying at the lodge. The food was amazing. And they even sent packed lunches with us when we were going to be out for the day!

Relaxing in hammocks at the lodge's lookout point

Mirador means viewpoint in English, and this place had an amazing one!
The view from the lookout was amazing - We could see the whole Bay!

Kyle made a kitty friend he nicknamed "Mangy" for obvious reasons.
