Sailing Lessons - Day 1

Way back in the summer we bought sailing lessons with the Vancouver Island Maritime Academy on Groupon - We were finally able to take advantage of it this weekend!

Kyle and I bought two days of lessons, while Todd, Dave and Jordan bought a single lesson. We all went together on Saturday.

The boys are all excited as we get ready to leave the marina

I took over at the helm after we left the marina - I drove us out of the harbour channel to the open ocean

 Todd raising the main sail

It was really cold out on the water, so we were all bundled up!

This ferry boat kept driving around in circles near us, doing a test run after repairs

Kyle enjoying a hot cup of tea while at the helm

The clouds started to break and we got a little sunshine about halfway through the day

 Man overboard?

I raised the main sail after anchoring off of Albert Head for lunch

We drove straight through a huge flock of seagulls on our way back into port - They ended up flying around us in circles for about 5 minutes while we practiced emergency maneuvers

By the time we got back to the marina, we were cold and exhausted, but ready for day two!
